主要从事生物化工领域合成生物学的应用基础研究工作。从事生物化工领域合成生物学、代谢工程的研究工作,利用合成生物学、系统生物学、生物信息学手段,设计和构建具有新功能的生物元器件(小分子生物传感器、微生物自进化模块、大规模基因组关联位点搜寻工具等),开发高效的微生物细胞工厂,并应用于精细化学品、大宗化学品、天然产物等产品的工业生物催化。在Metabolic Engineering,Microbial Cell Factories,Biotechnology and Bioengineering等刊物发表SCI收录论文60余篇,引用近500次,h因子15。担任十余种国内外期刊审稿人。近3年主持国家自然科学基金,北京市自然科学基金,国家973、863、科技支撑计划子课题、清华大学自主科研项目等6项。2004年获得第一届全国化学工程与生物化工年会优秀论文奖,2007年获得第十七届全国发明展览会银奖,2008年获清华大学优秀博士论文二等奖等奖励。
