夏海平,厦门大学化学系教授。1964年出生于上海,1983年厦门大学化学系本科毕业,1986年厦大化学系高分子专业硕士毕业,之后留校任教。1995至1997年在香港科技大学从事访问研究。2004年入选教育部首批“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”。2009年获国家杰出青年基金资助。已发表学术论文150余篇。夏海平主要从事金属杂环化学研究。近年,其小组在Nature Chemistry和Nature Communications上报道了一个颠覆传统的全新芳香体系,该体系与传统芳香体系光电性能截然不同,具有广泛的应用前景。该工作引起了国内外广泛关注,成果入选2013年度“中国高校十大科技进展”。
